Overview
The IXL Universal Screener is a pivotal tool in setting the starting point for a student's personalized learning journey on the 2hr Learning platform for SPEEDRUN. This article aims to provide an overview of the screener process, its impact on grade-level recommendation, and subsequent steps in the learning path.
Your First Step: The IXL Universal Screener
The IXL Universal Screener is a diagnostic tool designed to assess a student's current knowledge base. It helps in identifying the most suitable starting point in their learning path and recommending an appropriate level.
How Does it Work?
The screener evaluates the student's knowledge and skills, and the results are displayed on the student's dashboard.
Choosing Your Grade Level
After receiving their recommendations from the IXL Universal Screener, students have the flexibility to choose a grade level to compete in. This choice is not restricted to their recommended grade level. Students can opt to compete in a grade level within ±2 years of their age-appropriate grade. This allows for a tailored experience that matches each student's unique abilities and learning pace.
Subsequent Assessment: The MAP Math Test
After selecting their grade level, students will need to take the MAP Math test. This test will serve to examine the student's performance.
It's crucial to note that the results of the MAP Math test do not affect the student's grades or learning path; however, it is mandatory to take this test to compete in SPEEDRUN. Another MAP test will be taken at the end of the competition to assess the student's evolution.
Final Step: Rostering into a Skill Plan
Once students complete the MAP test, they are rostered into a skill plan. This plan is aligned with the age grade they have chosen. The skill plan is a comprehensive guide that directs the student's learning journey on the platform, ensuring they engage with material that is most relevant to their chosen grade level and abilities.
