Introduction
You may be wondering when exactly does Dash update every day with your metrics (time spent, Accuracy, and Earned Mastered Units), so that you can keep track of your learning progress.
In this article, we'll explain how often the data gets refreshed on Dash, and the best times to check your session data.
When should I check my Dash rings?
Some apps are tracked in almost real time. For these, you can check your Dash rings around 1 to 2 hours after you finish working on them. These apps are, for example:
- Alpha Flashcards App
- Alpha Reading App
- AlphaWrite
- IXL
- Khan Academy
- ReadTheory
All other apps usually need more time before the information is updated, so you will need to wait a little longer before your Dash rings are updated.
- If you started working at any time in the morning and finished before 12 pm, check at 4 pm or later.
- If you started working at any time in the morning and finished after 12 pm, check the next day once school starts again.
- If you started working in the afternoon or evening (after 12 pm), check the next day once school starts again.
<supportagent>This is as per Understanding the Data Refresh Frequency in Dash, to keep it simple to students, and considering that their core skills time is 8:30 - 12:30 CT, app data importing starts at 12:30 CT, and the processing times, allowing some leeway. </supportagent>
Finally, to check the 2H sessions credited when you took an Edulastic test, always check during the next school day.
I waited and still the numbers don't seem right, what do I do?
Contact the Alpha Support Team to report this and include this information:
- The subject (Language, Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, etc.).
- The name of the app you were using (IXL, AlphaRead, Flashcards App, Knewton, etc.).
- The date when you worked on it.
- Why you think the numbers are wrong.
- Any evidence you have of the numbers being wrong (for example, screenshots), only if you have it.
Summary
To see updated information, you need to know when to check Dash after you work on a lesson.
For apps like Alpha Flashcards App, Alpha Reading App, AlphaWrite, IXL, Khan Academy, and ReadTheory, you can check your Dash rings around 2 hours after you finish working on them.
For all other apps, if you worked only during in the morning, you can check Dash at 4 pm. If any part of your work was in the afternoon, check during the next school day.
Contact the Support Team if you already checked at the right time, and Dash is still not updated.
FAQs
-
Why is some of my work already updated and some is not?
-
Some apps need more time to update. Check the list in the article to confirm if the app is tracked in "real time", otherwise check later based on the recommendations in "When should I check my Dash rings?".
-
-
What should I do to make sure my work is tracked?
-
Most things should be automatic, but if you're working on a Mac, make sure that you are logged in to your Alpha account in Google Chrome (check the section "Sign in & turn on sync") before you start working.
-
-
What do I do if my data seems wrong?
- Contact the Support Team to report the issue and provide the subject, the name of the app, the date when you worked on it, why you think the numbers seem wrong, and screenshots or any other evidence that the numbers are wrong (this one only if you have it).
